Augmented Reality Begins in the US
On Auguest 26th 2009, Yelp launched the first iPhone Augmented Reality application (some argue it’s not the first) specifically for the US on the App Store. The easiest way to define Augmented Reality (AR) is: the addition of virtual information to the real world when someone views it through a device (think of The Terminator) such as the iPhone or the Android.
Just imagine what people will be able to do with AR as it advances: show the name, height, width, date built, owner, etc of a building when you look at it, virtual storefront signs, …deciding not to rent 10,000 BC from the movie store after your iPhone views the DVD cover and shows you the critics reviews…
